Making data make sense

We now do nearly all our database work using Microsoft Access, both as an application and as a front-end query and reporting tool. Back-end servers include Jet and SQL Server. For statistical analysis, we use SPSS and SAS, both on the various Microsoft Windows platforms. For documentation, we use Adobe FrameMaker and Adobe Acrobat. We use Microsoft Word for creating documents from database information in Access applications.

In addition to these tools, we use FileMaker Pro, primarily for receiving files from clients such as school districts. We also use Microsoft Excel extensively.

We have developed applications in Microsoft FoxPro, but now work almost exclusively in Access.
